In his solo project Jaakko Arola combines his large range of woodwinds with electronic effects and field recordings. His compositions are built on electro-acoustic soundscapes, self-made instruments and field recordings from Finnish nature sounds. Through his effect pedals Arola can make a woodwind act as a bass-, harmony-, rhythmic- and melodic instrument at the same time. The material may vary from tightly composed and arranged into pure free improvisation.
